Greetings from 4th Street Recording
Located four blocks from the ocean and right off Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade, 4th Street Recording has been luring stellar talent downtown since 1989. This rich musical heritage began in 1977 when David Epstein built Sound Solutions, hauling sand up from the beach to fill the studio's outer walls and creating inside a sound design that continues to impress and amaze us, even after thirteen years.

George Clinton recorded here in the early days, and the Beach Boys took up residence after their place on 5th Street burned down. In recent years, our clients have included Fiona Apple, Incubus, Live, Alien Ant Farm, Hoobastank and Something Corporate.

We've got everything you need here: analog gear, digital gear, even a 2-story lounge with a loft and and a big screen TV, so you can get those $2,000-a-day overdubs at half the price. There's no band in the other room, so you can relax and make yourself at home. Musicians always remark how comfortable and creative they feel here, that the place has a great vibe. We tell them that if they don't walk down and take a look at the ocean at sunset, they're not utilizing the full facility.
